Microscopic mirrorless negative-index optical parametric oscillator.
The feasibility and extraordinary properties of mirrorless optical parametric oscillations in a microscopic strongly absorbing slab of negative-index metamaterial are shown. They stem from the backwardness of electromagnetic waves inherent with this type of metamaterial.
متن کاملNarrow-linewidth middle-infrared ZnGeP2 optical parametric oscillator
We report a narrow-linewidth ZnGeP2 (ZGP) optical parametric oscillator (OPO). It employs a Q-switched Nd:YAG-laser-pumped LiNbO3 OPO with an output at l 5 2.55 mm that is used as a pump for the ZGP OPO. With the singly resonant type II ZGP OPO cavity containing a diffraction grating and a Si etalon, we achieved mid-IR tunability from 3.7 to 8 mm with an output linewidth of ;0.1 cm21, correspon...
متن کاملTemporal properties of counter-propagating twin beams in a Mirrorless Optical Parametric Oscillator
Twin photon pairs generated through parametric downconversion (PDC) in a χ2 medium is one of the most widely used source of entanglement. We focus here on a nonconventional geometry in which one of the twin photons propagates in the opposite direction with respect to the pump beam exploiting quasi-phase-matching in a periodically poled crystal. Through predicted almost 50 years ago, this new PD...

متن کاملNarrow-linewidth megahertz-repetition-rate optical parametric oscillator for high-speed flow and combustion diagnostics.
We demonstrate the ability to generate ultra-high-frequency sequences of broadly wavelength-tunable, high-intensity laser pulses using a custom-built optical parametric oscillator pumped by the third-harmonic output of a "burst-mode" Nd:YAG laser. Burst sequences consisting of 6-10 pulses separated in time by 6-10 mus are obtained, with average total conversion efficiency from the 355 nm pump t...
